Lo scorso anno ci si è resi conto di come la tecnologia continui a rivoluzionare il mondo della finanza: a partire dalla maggiore diffusione dei pagamenti elettronici, passando per l’integrazione delle funzioni finanziarie in piattaforme non finanziarie, fino all’intensificarsi della concorrenza nell’ambito dei servizi BNPL, le evoluzioni nell’ambito del settore FinTech si annunciano inarrestabili anche nel 2022.

In questo stesso periodo di un anno fa avevamo divulgato le nostre previsioni nel documento: FinTech positioning for a re-opening in 2021 (Il FinTech si posiziona per la ripartenza nel 2021). Malgrado l’economia globale stia ancora provando a riprendersi dalla pandemia, nel 2021 si è assistito a un’accelerazione di molti trend di crescita strutturali del settore FinTech e ciò ha favorito lo sviluppo della digitalizzazione dell’economia più in generale.

 

Le nostre tesi e il posizionamento nel 2022

Per quanto riguarda l’anno in corso siamo ottimisti. Nel 2022 prevediamo l’adozione su vasta scala della tecnologia blockchain e l’accelerazione di altri trend, come la finanza incorporata e l’open banking. Riproponiamo inoltre le nostre attuali convinzioni – compresa la posizione contrarian nelle cosiddette payment company, ossia società che offrono soluzioni di pagamento – e il modo in cui classifichiamo le opportunità all’interno del mercato FinTech, dalle tecnologie dirompenti e di personal finance alla cibersicurezza fino ai promotori di efficienza.

Seguendo la nostra metodologia orientata alla ricerca, puntiamo a selezionare le società compounder redditizie e di qualità elevata, le cui attività sono unicamente di tipo FinTech, che beneficiano dei trend strutturali e che scambiano a valutazioni ragionevoli. Abbiamo inoltre tenuto conto del fattore incertezza che pesa sull’economia globale, che vede i singoli paesi far fronte alla pandemia in atto e i mercati alle prese con i diversi tassi di inflazione e le varie politiche monetarie delle banche centrali globali.

Crediamo nella gestione di un portafoglio bilanciato che abbini la stabilità delle società FinTech consolidate, la crescita prevedibile dei fornitori di tecnologie abilitanti e la forte espansione delle imprese FinTech emergenti.
